Lightning map covering southern parts of Norway
This map shows lightning strikes detected/triangulated by the European StrikeStar network. It is much more accurate than the other lightning maps on this site, but it will not show all strikes shown on the other maps. The reason for this is that in order for a strike to show up on this map it has to be detected by at least two of the detectors participating in the European StrikeStar network. Currently there are six more detectors in Norway participating in the StrikeStar network, theese are located in Tananger (Stavanger), Bergen, Larkollen (Rygge), Sleneset (Lurøy (Helgeland)), Vikhammer (Sør-Trøndelag), and Vennesla. There is also five in Denmark, those eleven is the ones closest to mine but there are many more. Because of the long distance between the detectors they will not pick up weak strikes in the close area surrounding my detector.
